Keith Eddleman Run Clinic is the Cure for the Common Lame-o.

You guys probably all know Ironman Chuck Moerbe? Well last fall as I was just getting into training for tri's he loaned me his collection of triathlon magazines --about 4 years worth. Thanks, Chuck! I'm pretty sure I've read all of them cover to cover. Just the other day I was reading an article about track workouts and why they are so important. Before I give you the cliff's notes version, so that you don't have to go back to the May, 2003 edition of Triathlon Today, I want to layout a few of… Continue

Keith Eddleman Great Race Experience at the Cap Tex 2009

Just wanted to say thanks to the club for making my race experience fantastic. I was very prepared for every aspect of my race. Under sunny skies it was the best race of my life so far! I'm looking forward to a great summer of training with the club and continuing to improve on all three disciplines. Go Team! Continue

Keith Eddleman Texas State Triathlon: "I Love You, Man"

All in all it was a good race. I swam the 500m swim in 9:24 (I went out too fast and paid for it at the end) I biked the 15 miles in 42:52 (I felt great on the ride. I actually passed people which was new for me) I ran the 3 miles in 24:45 (An 8:15 pace to me is only average and I think this is the area that needs the most work) With an overall time of 1:19:13... I took 5th place in the M 20-24 division...only problem is that's not my division (but it just sounds so great!) I actually got 13… Continue

Keith Eddleman Wetsuit Rental: How I Did it and Why You Should Think About Doing it Too

This coming Sunday I'm racing in my first Sprint Tri. I don't have a wetsuit just yet and swimming in the cold waters of Aquarena Springs definitely calls for some neoprene. I've studied the wetsuit market pretty thoroughly and asked some knarly veterans, like JohnnyO, and with all the advice and knowledge I've acquired I think I'm more skeptical that I was before. That said, I've decided that I better rent a suit and test the waters, literally, before investing a good chunk of change on a new… Continue

kathy ladner Hydration

I am a certified athletic trainer which means that I care for and prevent athletic injuries for high school athletes. A part of my job is making sure that my athletes do not dehydrate. I am concerned because I have observed our club members suffer from severe hydration (heat exhaustion that could have easily crossed over into heat stroke) at last year's half ironman. I also see and hear about members cramping in swim and run practice. An athlete should NEVER cramp or experience heat exhaustion r… Continue

Keith Eddleman Raced in the Dirty Duathlon - Learned Some Valuable Lessons

I had a blast racing in the Dirty Duathlon on November 23rd. It was held down in Smithville, Tx at the Rocky Hill Ranch - a name that is very fitting for the type of terrain we covered. This race was a 5k run through what I call the Rocky Roller-coaster. If you picture a real, wooden… Continue

Keith Eddleman Swim Clinic: Where were you?

I just wanted to post a quick blog about the first Swim Clinic at the YMCA Buda last night. I worked until about 7:00 and wasn't really 'feelin' it', if you know what I mean...But that's what separates the good triathlete from the mediocre; overcoming that tired, "I don't feel like it," feeling...so I decided to go. We had 2 lanes. There were 6 of us, I think. We had plenty of space ( for you! ) Adrien is a GREAT swim coach! This cannot be overstated. Whether you are a beginner or an advanced… Continue
